Scrimmage Day. Joseph's been waiting for this day for a loooong time. Whooooie, it sure was a hot one! In the beginning of the game he got the wind knocked out of him. Then in the second game (Yes, they played two games in the heat. Nuts.) he took a hit to the groin. OUCH! He survived. I think he's glad that first game is over. He built it up so much in his mind that he psyched himself out. He was real quiet and lethargic throughout the game. Oh, did I mention he's sharing the position of quarterback! I think his nerves got the best of him. He was anxious during the 1 hour car ride to the scrimmage. The team mom kept a close eye on him as he was looking pale and was clammy throughout the game. We pulled him out for good toward the end of the second game. He tossed his cookies in our driveway upon returning home. Actually, that was his turning point. By the end the afternoon his color returned along with his energy level. Now that he knows what to expect and how it's gonna feel, he'll be able to face his first game with confidence and a beastly ferociousness. Game time: 2 weeks from today.

i love that your the mom that takes a picture instead of running hysterically onto the field...LOL!!!
oh no. I would NEVER do that! i stayed on the sidelines and silently prayed...and snapped a pic or two.
wow...down!..but glad to see he was not out! he has 2 weeks now to get psyched up! how about a high protein diet to beef him up!!!
hang in there Joseph.. i'm rooting for you!!
"oh my nerves.." as his aunt megan used to say..
when you have boys in sports you say a lot of prayers on the sidelines!
The growing pains of boys! Any guy can relate to that pain. In the end, it will be a good learning tool to keep him not so hyped up and stay focused. My bet is that it will just make him more determined. It's something in that Shay blood...those are some tough boys you have underneath those cute smiles. Tell him to keep working...it will get better! I am glad that you were able to stay calm...way to go Mom!
