Forsythia. Memories flood my mind from childhood at the mere mention of this plant/weed/bush. Thanks to a friend who decorated with these cuttings at our CBS Share Day, I now have a chance at restoring some memories right here in my own back yard. Remember the hill I plan to conquer?

way to go, lis... with patience and time , that should conquer that hill some day!! remember the tunnels and forts we had in our forsythia on Herblew !! 'course, it took about 25-50 years to get that way!!! oh well, start small and hang in there.
go get it lisa!! i have to say forsythia is not a good word around here...although I do think that they are lovely bushes...when we moved into plumly circle the previous owners were not very attentive to their forsythia and it was so overgrown it took jason forever to cut it all down and take half of our yard back! but i'm sure with love and care they will be lovely for you in your yard =)
mom, YES! that is exactly what i told the boys. all those great, great memories!! elijah said, "Cool! are we going to build forts too?!" hee hee
claud, bummer. wished i would've been able to split them from yours..phooey. they are in the weed family so that's why they're good in places that do not need maintenance. my big brother told my big sister that who told me. whew. mouth full of unnecessary info. sorry.
Ahhhh the forsythia. I grew up with them for all of the childhood years spent in Doylestown (about 10). There were several bushes on my parents 1 acre property. Dad would trim them every year and they would grow back bigger. Each year in February, my mother would "play God". She would force my father to bring in clippings from the yard and put them in water and force them to bloom in the middle of the winter. Obviously not what God intended, but it helped her get through winter! I still, to this day, chastise her for this practice and tell her that one day she will have to answer for this practice at the pearly gates. Anyway, enjoy them (as God intended, of course)!!
oh jeff, i loooove that story about your mom! how funny. i can totally understand her desire for some spring in the dull, damp and cold of the PA winters i no longer have to endure. but i must agree with you, it wasn't God's intent. if we were to find a way to bring the yellow cheer of the forsythia into the house all winter long, would it dull our senses to it once spring came? if think it might...therefore, i believe in God's plan!
